Actionable Empathy: Driving Inclusion with Empathy

Presented by Sharon Steed, Communilogue (Founder), Pittsburgh, PA

The workforce is more diverse than ever, yet the way we interact with each other doesn’t always reflect these ethnic and cultural differences. Navigating a world where we must constantly engage emotions, opinions and ideas that we don’t always understand or agree with doesn’t have to be impossible. In fact it can be greatly beneficial to team productivity, innovation, creativity and overall company success. The result of this breakout will be teams that know how to create, build and maintain a culture of inclusion through everyday empathy actions.

Attend this session to learn more about (1)  identifying and examining  the potential biases that are impacting their ability to be effective communicators, (2) giving feedback from a place of empowerment and receiving feedback from a place of support, (3) differentiating between sympathy and empathy, and (4) effectively using key empathy behaviors to take empathy from an idea to an action that attendees can integrate seamlessly into their day

Parking permits are not required.  Parking is available in a number of locations including the lots

  • On 6th street along the west side of the Bakery District building (across from Hanna Oil and Gas - FREE)
  • Adjacent to the National Cemetery (north edge) on Garland Avenue (FREE)
  • Adjacent to the ArcBest Corporation Performing Arts Center on the east side of Wheeler (FREE)
  • And for a nominal fee in metered spaces as well as in the parking garage at 715 Rogers Avenue.
