Marijuana in the Workplace: Ethical and Legal Considerations for Employers in Arkansas

Employers in Arkansas must now accommodate employees who legally carry and use marijuana products as a bonafide treatment option prescribed by a doctor.  In addition to medical marijuana, efforts to legalize recreational marijuana are ongoing.  Employers must be more cognizant than ever when drug testing of the legal elements for usage which includes compliance with federal laws such as FMLA and ADA.  In this lunch-and-learn session, Christopher Hooks will review the current legal climate in Arkansas and share best practices for ongoing legal  compliance while upholding the rights of the employees and employers. 


This is dual delivery session with in-person or remote options.  All registrants will a Zoom link in the confirmation and reminder emails.  Please select your intended manner of participation when registering. 

Parking permits are not required.  Parking is available in a number of locations including the lots

  • adjacent to the National Cemetery (north edge) on Garland Avenue (FREE)
  • adjacent to the ArcBest Corporation Performing Arts Center on the east side of Wheeler (Free)
  • and for a nominal rate in metered spaces and the parking garage at 715 Rogers Avenue.
