Mission & Purpose

Our Mission

We serve  Human Resources professionals and support the advancement of Human Resource endeavors among our members and our community.  We host monthly chapter meetings which offer networking and professional development opportunities.  Additionally, we sponsor and annual conference each fall to grow the leadership skills in our region.  By such endeavors, our mission to develop our members and assist in the community is advanced.

Our Purpose

• Promote the profession of human resource management throughout the Greater Fort Smith Region, including Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma;
• Make information available regarding current thoughts and trends in Human Resource Management through the mediums of outstanding speakers, significant reports, and studies and other means available;
• Actively support or oppose legislation or other matters based on employer needs and professional goals, and strive to be the voice of the profession in regards to Human Resource Management issues;
• Provide an opportunity to develop leadership, managerial, public speaking and group decision-making skills; to provide an arena for the development of trust relationships where common problems can be discussed and deliberated;
• Provide an opportunity to focus on current human resource management issues of importance to our members;
• Foster and support professional development of WAHRA members through encouragement of SHRM membership for eligible Human Resource professionals and through promotion and support of certification by members.
• Serve as part of the two-way channel of communications between SHRM and the individual members.
